Rémi Garde is the new Aston Villa manager.

The 49-year-old Frenchman succeeds Tim Sherwood at Villa Park, and has signed a three-and-a-half year deal. Garde's last job in football management was with Lyon in Lique 1, between 2011 and 2014, before he stepped down due to family reasons. Garde will be a spectator at Villa's game away to Tottenham Hotspur tonight, but will be in charge for the visit of Manchester City on Sunday. Villa are currently bottom of the Premier League, with just four points from 10 games, and their lacklustre form has extended to welcoming their new manager. The club's official website managed to misspell their new manager's name, using the hastag "WelcomeRemy".
