Ireland international Sammie Szmodics could be playing top-flight football after a Premier League club launched a bid for the forward.
Szmodics took home the SkyBet Championship golden boot last season and scored 33 goals in all competitions as he helped Blackburn Rovers avoid the drop to the third tier of English football.
He was rewarded with a first Ireland call-up back in March and could be a key part of the side going forward after impressing.
After a season like Szmodics had it's no surprise to see him linked with a move to the Premier League and according to Sky Sports, Ipswich Town have launched a bid to sign the Ireland star.
Managed by Fermanagh native Kieran McKenna, Ipswich won automatic promotion to the Premier League at the first attempt after being crowned champions of League One a season before.
The report adds that Ipswich are in advanced talks with Blackburn for the 28-year-old, who has two years left on his deal.
A move to Portman Road is likely to cost the Tractor Boys over £20m. So far this summer, they have brought in Omari Hutchinson, Jacob Greaves, and Liam Delap.
On an international front, Premier League football is only likely to help Szmodics stake a claim in Ireland squads even further and he will be one of the front runners to be named in Heimir Hallgrímsson's squad for the Nations League fixtures against England and Finland.
