Real Madrid’s reported selling price for Cristiano Ronaldo smells like a bargain to us

It's not exactly a bargain, but not far off.

Cristiano Ronaldo will be 31 by the time the summer transfer window opens. He's not over the hill, but you sense that if he is going to leave Real Madrid, they will want as much money as possible for the Portuguese. Zinedine Zidane is likely to be named long-term coach of the club this summer, and the Frenchman is understood to be already thinking of life beyond the preened and sculpted one in his attack. Ronaldo was a world record signing for Madrid from Manchester United for nigh on €80million in 2009, and according to various reports today, the club are holding out for most of that money if he is sold. Reports in Spain suggest the club will only accept bids of around €60million this summer for their top scorer. Spanish newspaper Sport claims the player has already been offered to PSG and Manchester United for around £48million, which is a lot less than we would have expected him to be sold for. Ronaldo's contract does not expire at the Bernabeu until 2018, but with Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the way out in Paris, and Manchester United needing a serious injection of attacking talent; will they be tempted by a €60million asking price?
