Richard Keys makes the most random suggestion for the new manager of Manchester United

Louis van Gaal's days at Old Trafford are numbered.

It's the worst-kept secret that the Dutchman won't be on the touchline at the start of next season, with questions about his departure from club focusing more on the 'when' than the 'if' side of things. A few different names have been put forward as Van Gaal's replacement, with Jose Mourinho and Ryan Giggs appearing to be the front-runners. But former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys has come up with a perfectly Keysian suggestion in his most recent blog, saying Steve Bruce should be the man to take over at Old Trafford. While we think it's a suggestion only slightly more ridiculous than our nomination of Rachel Riley, Keys sticks to hits the familiar notes of Bruce "knowing the club" thanks to his time as a player. Most pundits would point to Bruce's record as a manager as reason enough to never let him anywhere near the Manchester United hot seat, Keys makes the frankly ludicrous claim that the Hull City manager's achievements rank higher than those of 13-time Premier League winner Alex Ferguson. 'He's seen the lot in a very successful managerial career,' writes Keys. 'The highs of promotion and the devastation of relegation. He had Arsene Wenger and Arsenal rattled in the FA Cup final. How he initially got Hull into the Premier League is beyond me, but he's about to do it again. He's done it with Birmingham twice. 'That's like Fergie winning the title - arguably better, because he was operating with limited budgets.' After Andy Gray's nonsense was called out by Graeme Souness during the week, we're becoming more and more grateful that we no longer have to put up with such lazy analysis on our screens any more.
