Roy Keane calls out Lee Dixon in FA Cup final penalty controversy

"I'm not stupid."

There was controversy in the FA Cup final between Manchester United and Manchester City, as United went 1-0 down, only to equalise thanks to a questionable penalty decision. Ilkay Gundogan scored the quickest goal ever in FA Cup final history, finding the net before the first minute of the match, and it looked like a long road back for United. However, late in the second half Jack Grealish was defending a high ball in his own box, and with his arms raised, it bounced off his arm. https://twitter.com/itvfootball/status/1665003695983976450 VAR intervened, the referee went and had a look and decided that it was indeed a penalty, which Bruno Fernandes calmly converted. Lee Dixon had said that he didn't believe it should have been a penalty, but speaking at half-time on ITV, Roy Keane was quick to disagree.

"I think it's a penalty all day long, and if anyone has any doubt about Lee Dixon, just remember he's a City fan.

"He's getting really upset up there. They have obviously discussed it, and they have looked at it. "I don't think he knows what he's doing, but I do think he can bring his arms a touch down. I know you have to leap and use your arms, of course, I'm not stupid.

"But the last bit of his movement, I do think he does raise it up. "It's brilliant for the game, obviously there's tension, City never took advantage when they were 1-0 up, United hung in there, not anything brilliant from them, obviously a little bit of luck and now United are straight back in this game." The second half started pretty much as the first did however, as Gundogan found the net once again with a brilliant shot from range. United knocked on the door but Pep Guardiola's side were just too good in the end, and ultimately the penalty decision became irrelevant in the end. Related links:
