Seamus Coleman with Merseyside Derby moment to forget as Liverpool win

Everton had fought their way back into the Merseyside Derby after a horror start, but Seamus Coleman's error saw the match slip away.

After drawing and losing the Premier League encounters with Everton last season, Liverpool set about righting some wrongs [real, perceived and everything in between] at Goodison Park. Everton went into the tie without a league win in seven games and they fell 2-0 behind after only 20 minutes. Gray gives Everton hope before Seamus Coleman mistake

Just as the home fans were getting considerably restless, Everton got back in it when Demarai Gray slotted the ball under Alisson to make it 2-1. The second half was played at a cagier pace, but Everton were posing some problems from their local rivals. On 65 minutes, with Everton going close with a free and hoping to score from a corner, a counter-attack left Seamus Coleman wishing Goodison Park would open up and swallow him whole. The Everton corner was cleared and Gray played a looping ball back to Coleman. The Everton and Ireland captain tried to take a touch but the ball slipped under him and set Salah free. Coleman tried to grapple the Egyptian back and chased him all the way. Salah was undeterred and scored low and crisp past Jordan Pickford. Up until that moment, Coleman had been having a decent game, with some important interceptions on Salah and Sadio Mané. As Liverpool celebrated, though, he knew how costly his mistake had been. Following the game, Salah told Amazon Prime:

"I expected him [Seamus Coleman] to do a mistake which he did. The game was tough at 2-1 but at 3-1 it becomes much better."
