Sheffield United have been given a lifeline by the Premier League however the post has since been deleted.
The Blades' relegation to the Championship was confirmed on Saturday as the fell to a heavy 5-1 defeat to Newcastle United.
Chris Wilder's side have 16 points and on the verge of conceding 100 goals in a league campaign, currently sitting on 97.
Upon confirmation of their relegation, the Premier League tweeted the news but also added an extra detail that gave some fans some hope.
It said: "Following their defeat to Newcastle, Sheffield Utd are relegated pending Everton and Nottingham Forest's points-deduction appeals."
The post was then swiftly deleted.
Both Everton and Forest have had points deducted for breaching the league's profit and sustainability rules.
Forest were deducted four points and remain just one place above the relegation zone while the Toffees were initially handed a 10-point deduction before it was reduced to six following an appeal.
They were then given a further two-point deduction for a second charge.
There is a chance that both could have deductions taken away from them as they await the outcome of their appeals.
It's unlikely that this will affect Sheffield United, who as it stands, are 20 points behind Everton and 10 behind Forest.
