“Situations change” – Jurgen Klopp open to signing new midfielder for Liverpool

At the beginning of the summer Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp declared that there would be no need to sign another midfielder. With two draws and one loss to Manchester United on Monday, the Reds are struggling to find their feet this season, and heaps of injuries aren't helping. Naby Keita, Thiago, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all currently injured, leaving potential gaps in the middle of the park, while Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez are missing up front due to injury and suspension. With the transfer window set to close at 11pm on September 1st, Klopp has admitted in a press conference that they are always open to new potential signings. “I don’t know. You can imagine, we are working constantly on these kind of things,” Klopp told reporters on Friday.

“We spoke about reasons why sometimes it is not happening, sometimes too expensive, sometimes not the right player. “But then situations change, but one thing stays important; it needs to be the right player.

“We are working, but we will see if something will happen or not. I don’t know.” He later added: “It has to be the right player. Having injuries doesn’t change that, the right player has to be available, and that remains. We have to be 100 percent convinced.”
