BBC, Sky Sports and Channel 4 pundit Danika Priim has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman.
The former rugby league star is accused of committing the offence at Horsforth Cricket Club in West Yorkshire on July 22, 2022.
It is alleged Priim, of Keighley, West Yorkshire, “intentionally touched a woman aged 16 or over” which was “sexual when she did not consent”.
Priim appeared before Leeds Magistrates’ Court last week, where no pleas were entered during a hearing that ended with the case being sent to Leeds Crown Court. She is due to appear there on 13 March.
The Leeds native retired from playing in 2021 after winning every major domestic honour and featuring for England at the 2017 World Cup.
She played as a prop for Bradford Bulls and Leeds Rhinos during her playing career.
Earlier this year, Priim took up the post of Rugby Football League vice-president alongside newly-elected president Adam Hills.
She has become a prominent pundit since retiring from playing aged 37, working for the BBC at the Rugby League World Cup in 2022 and at the Paris Olympics last year where she covered the rugby sevens.
Priim has also featured on Sky Sports' coverage of rugby league and on Channel 4's Super League production in 2022. She has been nominated for an award at the Broadcast Sport Awards.
