Stephen Kenny is set to make his return to management in the League of Ireland.
Kenny has been out of work since leaving Irish national team in November after the FAI opted against renewing his contract.
He had initially been linked with a return to Bohemians but talks are now supposedly underway with another club.
St Patrick's Athletic are on the hunt for a new manager after they parted ways with Jon Daly earlier this week. Assistant Sean O’Connor has taken over on a caretaker role and oversaw their 2-2 draw away to Shamrock Rovers on Friday.
After the game, O'Connor was asked about the rumours surrounding Kenny and the vacant role at Richmond Park before confirming that he is in talks.
"Whatever they want me to do, I’ll do," O'Connor said.
"Stephen is a high-profile name but I don’t know what’s going on on that side of things, that’s for the owner, the board members to decide. I’ll just get on with my job, getting the team ready for tonight.
"Talks will go on in the background, I’m not privy to that. If they tell me to take it for tonight, it’s tonight, if they tell me to take it for two games, it’s two games. That’s just the approach I’ll have with it."
St Pat's are looking to improve their fortunes in the second half of the season after a sluggish start which sees them lying in seventh place.
