Speaking on Sky Sports News, Pearce wrote off United's hopes of winning in their next match - Tuesday's game at West Ham.
"I don't think United will get the result at West Ham, I really don't. I can't see them winning down there.
"I was at the Norwich game at the weekend and their performance wasn't great, I must admit. They've come away with the three points but their performance was very lacklustre."
Admitting that City's remaining fixture - an away game at Swansea - would also be a tough one, Pearce claimed that he'd rather be in the position of Manuel Pellegrini.
"The fates of both teams will be in the hands of the teams they're playing, but I'd rather be in City's position."
