WATCH: Swansea and Liverpool unite to pay emotional Hillsborough tribute

Some incidents transcend footballing rivalry.

The footballing world has well and truly united, this week, to pay homage to the memory of those fans lost at the Hillsborough disaster in 1989. Findings of an independent tribunal, earlier this week, completely exonerated the Liverpool fans of blame from a tragedy that cost 96 lives and affected thousands more. On Saturday, at grounds across England, tributes were paid to victims of a tragedy that occurred 27 minutes into the 1989 FA Cup semi-final. https://twitter.com/JamesPearceEcho/status/726706667501539328 This afternoon, Swansea hosted Liverpool and paid their respects. Swansea skipper Ashley Williams and Liverpool's Martin Skrtel laid a '96' wreath that contained the crests of both clubs.

There was a thunderous minutes' applause and then, on 27 minutes, You'll Never Walk Alone rang out around The Liberty Stadium. Touchingly, the anthem was sang by both sets of fans.
