"We are naturally disappointed that we've had to cancel the event," QPR CEO Lee Hoos told the club's website.
"I have spoken to a lot of fans over the last 18 months about their desire for the event to return, but it seems the price point is still an issue and therefore we've been left with little option but to cancel the event."
Those loyal QPR fans who did buy tickets for the ceremony will receive a full refund.
The absence of enthusiasm around Loftus Road is not exactly surprising, given the lack of on-pitch success.
QPR currently sit in 16th place of the Championship table, with Ian Holloway's side having lost three games on the bounce.

@QPRFC it wasn't because of "lack of sales" it was because it was £119/ticket for a curry Brentford doing it for £47 @ Radisson Blu Heathrow pic.twitter.com/zvdWqKuilY

@Tonyryan111 @g_a_zz @QPRFC £119 ! That's a disgrace, i'd want to see the original Beatles perform at the end for that price.

@QPRFC Are you surprised? £120 for a curry, giving fans a few weeks to find the money! I love these events but plan it at least 4 months in advance
