Tim Sherwood doesn’t think Jack Grealish will make the England squad for Euro 2016

Tim Sherwood thinks Grealish's allegiance to England is good for the country. But he doesn't believe the player will be going to France next summer.

The Aston Villa manager has given his take on the player's decision to declare for England after playing his underage international football with the Republic of Ireland. What concerns Sherwood more, however, is that the 20-year-old start performing again for his club after suggesting deciding between Ireland and the country of his birth was impacting on his form. "Hopefully Jack has cleared his mind now," Sherwood told AVTV. "We're looking for some improved performances from him now on the pitch so those international managers choose to pick him." But, whilst Timmy reckons that Grealish's decision to declare for England is a good thing for his country, he thinks that the player will struggle to get in to the squad. "It's good news for England. Obviously," the Villa boss said. "He's got a lot of competition there so he needs to make sure that he is playing well for Aston Villa - and we're sure he will. "He has loads of potential - and that's what it is at the moment. He needs to start fulfilling that potential. He needs to improve every season that goes by. "That will mean he might get picked by England and becomes an international but I think this championship might be a little bit too soon for him."
