Touch of class from German FA who sent a letter of thanks to international outcast Kevin Kuranyi

So Kevin Kuranyi's a World Cup winner apparently.

It's fair enough saying people who didn't play in a final or whatever were still part of it but, Jaysus, someone who hasn't played in seven years is a bit of a stretch. But Kevin Kuranyi has been recognised by Germany for the service he gave the country over the years and, admittedly, it's a class touch from the FA to say that he contributed to their development towards 2014. The Dynamo Moscow player sparked controversy back in 2008 when he left the stadium at half time during a World Cup qualifier with Russia and never appeared back at the hotel. And Joachim Low kept his promise that the Brazilian-born player would never be selected for Germany again as long as he was coach. However, in the Sport Bild, the striker who played 52 times for the country revealed why he felt part of the German World Cup success last year.

"I got a letter recently from the DFB (German FA). This one has thanked me that I have contributed to the development of the team and also that a [World Cup] star was deserved [for me]. I thought that was a great gesture. So I 'm also kind of world champion."

Alright, Kevin, let's not get carried away.
