Transfer talk – Man City plan to ransack Liverpool dressing room with moves for Sterling, Henderson and Coutinho

Manchester City's transfer plans could be simply renamed "Operation Liverpool."

The reigning Premier League champions are putting together a scheme to bring Liverpool's three most pivotal players to the Etihad this summer

Philippe Coutinho joins teammates Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling on the shopping list of City chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak as the club look to rebound from a disappointing campaign that will more than likely end trophyless.

Brendan Rodgers will do everything in his power to hang on to his players because an overhaul of that level, with Steven Gerrard also leaving for LA Galaxy at the end of the season, will leave Liverpool with even more of an uphill task next year.

In terms of Anfield arrivals, Rodgers is making plans for a sensational approach for Manchester United's Javier Hernandez.

Chicarito is currently on loan at Real Madrid but understandably can't break his way into a front line which includes Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.

Premier League leaders Chelsea look to have set the wheels in motion as they attempt to lure the "Japanese Messi" to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have reportedly sent scouts to monitor FC Tokyo's Yoshinori Muto this season and the club have revealed that an official approach has been made.

Club president Naoki Ogane has said that "it is true that Chelsea sent us an offer for Muto. It is a formal offer with conditions. They want to acquire him in the summer."

The 22-year-old has established himself as a regular international for Japan and has impressed in the J-League over the past two seasons, with 16 goals in 37 appearances. (Daily Star)

Arsenal will not have to travel to Asia to secure their transfer target as they are eyeing a swoop for Charlton defender Joe Gomez.

The 17-year-old is a versatile, young player who can play at centre-back or right-back and has been something of a regular for Charlton this season, making 19 appearances for the Championship side.
