Transfers: David de Gea to snub Real Madrid and sign new contract at Manchester United

Manchester United have been linked with huge transfer swoops for everyone from Mats Hummels to Memphis Depay this summer, but the most important name on a contract could come from one of their own

United fans have had reason to worry about the future of goalkeeper David de Gea, with Real Madrid expected to make every effort to lure the former Atletico stopper back to the Spanish capital as the long-term replacement for Iker Casillas. But reports in today's Sun suggest De Gea is ready to spurn Los Blancos and sign a bumper new deal at Old Trafford worth £20million over two years.   Should De Gea up sticks, though, boss Louis van Gaal has lined up a move for Inter Milan stopper Samir Handanovic. The 30-year-old Slovenian has just a year left on his deal and would be seen as a capable medium-term replacement for the Spanish netminder.
