Troy Parrott makes Premier League debut in Tottenham rout of Burnley

Another big step for the teenager in what is shaping up to be a superb season.

Jose Mourinho vowed to give Troy Parrott a game against Bayern Munich, next week, then went ahead and gave the 17-year-old his Premier League debut while he was waiting. Parrott came on for the final stages of Tottenham's emphatic league victory over Burnley at White Hart Lane. Tottenham were 3-0 up by half-time after goals from Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and a stunner from Son Heung-Min. Mourinho's Spurs, in his short reign, have been guilty of letting sides back into games they have been dominating. That would not be the case today. Kane added his second goal on 54 minutes and then teed up Moussa Sissoko to make it 5-0. Mourinho then brought on the promising Oliver Skipp before, with the fans already calling for him, Parrott entered the fray. With injury time included, he got a nine minute taster of Premier League action. "We are going to finish second [in our Champions League group]," Mourinho stated . "It doesn’t matter the result, but it's very important for the players. Very important for the players that are going to play. "It's very important for me to know them better. I am going to play for sure some of the players that are not playing with me in these matches we are playing. "It's a great opportunity for young people. A great opportunity for the development of these young players, the Walker-Peters, the Skipps, the Parrotts, the Sessegnons, all these young players that we have, it’s a great opportunity for them."

Pre-season games against Juventus and Manchester United, senior debut in the League Cup against Colchester, Ireland senior debut against New Zealand, Premier League debut against Burnley and Bayern Munich up next. It has been a whirlwind five months for the Dubliner.
