For old times sake. United saw off Bournemouth 3-1 in the most non-event of non-event games and, just like 2012, were pipped to the post on goal difference by Manchester City. Except this time it was nowhere near the Premier League title post. But van Gaal didn't like the questions over his future - which have been there all year. Asked if he was going to be at Old Trafford next season, the Dutch man's answer was short: "Yes, because I've signed a three-year contract," he said. Then he tried to leave.
