Jurgen Klopp's team lost 2-1 away to Manchester City in a brilliant match that could have a big impact on the title race. Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane got the goals for City and Roberto Firmino scored for Liverpool in a game that was keenly contested from the first whistle to the last. If Liverpool had won the game, they would have been 10 points clear of the Premier League champions. Vincent Kompany, who was fortunate not to be sent off after a landing a heavy challenge on Mohamed Salah, attempted to share a laugh with the Liverpool defender and appeared to make a joke. However, Van Dijk was in no mood for jokes. The Dutch defender ignored Kompany and made his way over to the match officials to shake their hands.
