'We have lost one of the Red Wall'

A Wales fan who travelled to Qatar for the World Cup with his son has died. The male supporter was attending the tournament when he lost his life, according to the Wales Football Supporters’ Association’s fan embassy . He has been named as Kevin Davies, 62, from Pembrokeshire and it is understood he died of natural causes. Noel Mooney, chief executive of the Football Association of Wales (FAW), wrote on Twitter: “So sorry to hear that one of our supporters has passed away here.” He added: “Our condolences go to the family and of course we are here to support however we can.” https://twitter.com/NoelMooney13/status/1596463170717106177 https://twitter.com/FAWales/status/1596465682522476547 The Wales Football Supporters’ Association’s fan embassy wrote announced Davies' passing, saying: "Unfortunately we have lost one of the Red Wall yesterday in Qatar, our sincere condolences go out to his son here in Doha and his family back in Wales.

"May he rest in peace."

Metro quoted an FA Wales spokesperson as saying: "Our deepest condolences from everyone at the Football Association of Wales. "Our thoughts are with Kevin’s family and friends at this sad time. ‘The FAW is in contact with Kevin’s family to help in whatever way we can.’ One supporter paying tribute on social media wrote: "A great man who did so much for his area. "A true gentleman. The Welsh side lost 2-0 to Iran in a crucial group stage game on Friday, leaving them facing elimination from the tournament unless they beat England next week.
