AFC Wimbledon's rise up the leagues continues.

Despite finishing seventh in the table the Dons secured promotion to League One - their sixth in their 14 years of existence - after beating Plymouth Argyle 2-0 in the League Two playoff final in Wembley on Monday afternoon. This means that the Wombles will play in the same league as the MK Dons - aka the team that replaced the original Wimbledon FC after their relocation to Milton Keynes. One of the Wimbledon heroes over the last few years has been Adebayo Akinfenwa, the powerful striker known affectionately as "The Beast". The 34-year-old is out of contract this summer, but before he parted ways with the club he joined in 2014 he made sure to leave one last mark. Deep into injury time, Wimbledon were awarded a penalty after Adebayo Azeez was taken down in the Plymouth box. With the Dons already assured of victory thanks to Lyle Taylor's 78th-minute goal.
