West Brom look to hijack Newcastle’s move for Daniel Sturridge

Daniel Sturridge was on the verge of joining Newcastle United on a short term loan, according to The Times. Newcastle were set to pay a loan fee of about £1.5m and cover the player's wages of £120,000 per week. Then... West Brom happened. Alan Pardew has swooped in and, according to The Guardian, Albion are also willing to pay the loan fee to acquire the English striker until the end of the season. Sturridge could have gone to Inter Milan, but he was hesitant to move to Italy, especially to a club whose captain and star player, Mauro Icardi, is first choice striker in a team who only play with one. The Times report that Sturridge was keen on a move to Sevilla, but the Spanish club didn't make an official offer for him. Sturridge is in desperate need of a move away from Anfield if he is to play first team football regularly and both Newcastle and West Brom are in desperate need of a goalscoring striker if they are to stay in the top flight. In theory, either it's the ideal move for the striker.
