Women come out in defence of the new Manchester United female jersey, saying it’s not sexist

It's fair to say that adidas' venture into the world of Manchester United had been an unbridled success until the launch of the female jersey split opinion. The new United kit was met with unanimous praise by fans who had waited all summer for a first look at the three-stripe design but then the lower cut women's version sparked a bit of controversy. Questions were being asked if the club or makers were being sexist with the different shape of kit and, last night, the design came under fire. This morning though, more people have seemingly come out in support of the decision to change the female top - one fan even suggesting that it would've been more sexist to expect women to wear the men's jersey. "Football shirts are so unflattering for women" - one reader amidst a host of supporters in the Independent said.
