Zlatan Ibrahimovic might be planning a move to the MLS

Robbie Keane might be facing stiff competition for the MVP award if this happens.

Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reported that Paris Saint-Germain's talismanic striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has applied for a permanent US visa. The visa will allow him to work in the States, which fans of Major League Soccer will hope he decides to do as a footballer. Sources told Aftonbladet that Zlatan visited the US Embassy in Paris to apply for the visa. There is no evidence that the Swedish superstar striker did so with the intention of playing in the league but he has shown interest in playing for an MLS franchise in the past. He told Sports Illustrated last summer that he would consider moving to an MLS franchise somewhere down the line.

"I will really think about it because I find it very interesting to come over to America because my friend Thierry Henry [since retired] is playing there and he’s doing fantastic there. And he talks a lot of positive about the Major League Soccer, so it’s an interesting thing if the opportunity is still there in two to three years."

Ibrahimovic is still under contract at PSG until 2016, so we'll have to wait and see whether these rumours come true. Hat-tip to Bleacher Report
