Case closed on Conal Keaney’s missing GAA medals after bizarre phone call

You may remember, last month, that former Dublin footballer and hurler Conal Keaney had three medals - including one club All-Ireland winners' medal - stolen from the back of his car. Keaney, who still lines out for Ballyboden St Enda's, was planning a visit to his old family home to give the medals to his mother for safe-keeping. He left the medals in their presentation box when they were nicked by an opportunistic cad. https://twitter.com/SportsJOEdotie/status/816673005992636417 Keaney is also a pundit of The GAA Hour Hurling Show and, on Thursday, explained exactly where the case was. Depressingly, it had not gone far. Keaney said:

"I'm still waiting on whoever took them to drop them back. "The guard rang me last week and rang me to see did I get the medals back. I was like, 'Well I wasn't really looking for them. Were you not looking for them? "So he said, 'Nah, I think that's the end of the case. If anything comes up, I'll give you a shout but you can pretty much take it they're gone."

Pretty blunt assessment there - the medals are gone, good luck. Keaney adds that the worst part of the whole robbery is that the three empty presentation boxes were left behind.
