GAA's greatest nickname shocks county with resignation

Cheesy but, on occasions, effective.

A poor 2015 for the Laois hurlers is rapidly turning into a nigthmare. The county has been rocked by last night's resignation of Seamus Plunkett, who goes by the colourful nickname of 'Cheddar'. According to The Irish Mirror, Plunkett called it quits after several of his senior squad played a club game on Monday night. It was an act of defiance, in Ceddar's eyes, as the players turned out against his express wishes.

Ger Cunningham will take over the team as interim manager in the lead-up to their Leinster SHC quarter-final against Offaly on June 7. The team reached the Leinster knock-out stages after recovering from a round-robin loss against Antrim, in Ballycastle, to overcome Westmeath. The Laois county board has now confirmed Plunkeet's departure:
