Lille centre-back, Leny Yoro is on his way to the UK to undergo a medical and finalise his contract with Manchester United.
The Athletic’s, David Ornstein broke the news this morning after an initial €62million (£52m) fee was agreed between the two clubs last week but at the time, Yoro still hadn’t accepted the move.
Real Madrid had shown an interest in the 18-year-old and he was said to have his heart set on a switch to the Spanish capital but their offer didn’t come close to United’s as they reportedly offered just €20m.
French side PSG and Premier League rivals Liverpool had also shown an interest in the teenager who is being dubbed 'the best young defender in the world'.
Though United had the joint-fifth best defensive record in the Premier League last season, they were hit with injury woes as Varane, Shaw, Maguire and Martinez all spent time on the sidelines.
With Varane leaving the side this summer, Ten Hag is hopeful he can find a long-term partner to pair up with Lisandro Martinez.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS have been proactive in the transfer window so far having already secured the signing of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna.
Ten Hag's side were also edging closer to securing Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich but talks have since stalled.
Yoro has made 44 appearances for Lille, scoring three goals.
