Kevin Garnett to leave ‘Nets and return to Minnesota Timberwolves

The Brooklyn Nets have agreed tonight to let one of the most famous basketballers of his generation to return to his spiritual home. Kevin Garnett,who's still knocking around in the top level of the NBA despite being 38, has waived his no-trade clause to head back for one last shot at glory with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The move came on the last day of trading in the NBA, and the deal will see Garnett head for Minnesota in exchange for Thaddeus Young.

His return to the 'Timberwolves brings an end to his eight years away from the franchise after a shock move to the Boston Celtics in 2007. Garnett made the decision to leave hoping to finally win an elusive championship and did so in his very first season wearing green,ending a drought for the team going back to 1986. He was subsequently dispatched to the Brooklyn Nets in 2013 where he's been in decline for the past number of season. Minnesota are the second worst team in the NBA at the moment and its unlikely Garnett can inspire them in their remaining games but he's guaranteed to bring in the crowds. and that's pretty much as this move is for an ailing team.
