VINE: LA Clippers coach apologises to fan for awful team performance

Sorry is not the hardest word after all

It seems that our friends in the German Bundesliga have started something of a trend as coaches from the world of sport are now deciding to apologise to embarrassed fans for woeful performances. There was bizarre scenes on Wednesday night as Borussia Dortmund players climbed a fence to say sorry to their supporters for a 1-0 defeat to Augsburg that leaves them rooted to the foot of the table It's fairly rare that players or managers would do something so publicly but now it's caught on in the US. The LA Clippers were going through a really good spell with a six-game winning streak but that has come to an abrupt halt in the last few games. Their poor run culminated in a shocking performance last night against the Cleveland Cavaliers. At one stage the team trailed by a massive 30 points but eventually narrowed the gap to slump to a 105-94 defeat. Even still fans were hugely unhappy with the limp display and management felt the same.

Mid-game head coach Doc Rivers approached a young LA fan at the side of the court, and offered up his sympathy for putting the supporter through a fairly miserable night. Fistbumps make everything ok don't they?

We think the kid should have got the apology in writing so he could sue for breach of contract if the Clippers ever put in another shocking performance like this in the coming weeks,
