Davy Nelson and entire Meath ladies management team step down just a fortnight out from All-Ireland opener

Nelson is only in the job for six months.

Meath ladies football manager Davy Nelson has stepped down from his position, along with his entire management team, ahead of their upcoming All-Ireland series group B games against Waterford and Donegal. The Navan O'Mahonys club-man took over from Eamonn Murray at the beginning of the season but his stint in the hotseat has been short-lived. Meath endured a flat League campaign, where they finished in sixth place in Division One, recording just one win, and they lost the Leinster final to Dublin a couple of weeks ago. The Meath county board announced the news in a statement tonight.

"With regret Meath LGFA announce that the County Senior Management will not be taking the team forward to the TG4 All Ireland Series Group B games against Waterford and Donegal.

"The County Board wish to place on record our sincere gratitude to manager Davy Nelson, Head Coach Mark Brennan and the entire coaching and backroom team, for their commitment and work during the 2023 season."
