Compulsory headgear in rugby? SportsJOE at the BT Young Scientist

The future's in good hands.

Every January, the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition gathers the brightest young minds together at the RDS to showcase some of the best ideas the youth of Ireland has to offer. SportsJOE took a trip out to D4 to see what products and ideas could potentially change the face of Irish and international sport in the years ahead. We weren't disappointed. Compulsory headgear to encourage young people to participate in rugby, a fitted sensor that alerts referees to potentially dangerous tackles, an investigation into whether Irish dancers are fitter than GAA players, differentiating the treatment of referees in GAA and rugby and an assessment of the 20x20 movement in Ireland were all on show amongst over 2,000 projects last week.
