Sports hall roof being blown off in Cork shows just how dangerous this storm is

Hurricane Ophelia is causing serious damage.

The country was put on red alert on Sunday night, and rightly so, because by Monday afternoon storm Ophelia was making its way up from southern parts of the country at a rapid rate. The areas worst affected by the storm so far have been Waterford, Cork and other coastal counties, with the 85 km/h winds knocking trees, blowing roofs off buildings and causing devastation around the country. Cork City were supposed to be hosting Derry City in a League of Ireland match on Tuesday, but the devastation caused to their Turner's Cross stadium will sput a stop to that fixture going ahead. Cork has been bearing the brunt of the storm, with the roof blown off the sports hall in Douglas Community school.
