Daughter of Olympic sprinter Tyson Gay shot dead

Trinity Gay, daughter of Olympic sprinter Tyson Gay,  has died after a shooting at a restaurant in Lexington, Texas.

She was fifteen years of age. The teenager, who was said to be a promising track and field athlete, was taken to hospital on early on Sunday morning with a gunshot wound to the neck. "She didn’t make it. I’m so confused," said Tyson Gay, to Lex18 in Kentucky, where he was currently based. "She was just here last week for fall break. It’s so crazy. I have no idea what happened.” It is believed that Trinity was caught in the crossfire following an incident at Cook Out restaurant on South Broadway, Lexington, where two cars were said to be shooting at each other. Police say Trinity was not in either vehicle involved in the incident, which are believed to be a grey Dodge Charger and a dark-coloured sports car. Police have since revealed they are currently questioning two people of interest in relation to the shooting. Since the incident, members of the track and field community have posted messages in tribute to the promising athlete. Commissioner of the Kentucky High School Athletics Association, Julian Tackett, said: 'Shocked to hear of death of Trinity Gay. A life of such potential cut so tragically short. Sympathies to Tyson and entire family.' USA Track & Field tweeted, "Sending our thoughts & prayers to @TysonLGay & his loved ones as they mourn the tragic & senseless loss of his daughter, Trinity".
