Heffernan put in a stellar performance in the 50km race at the 2010 European Championships but finished just shy of the medal places in 4th.

Heffernan will be presented with the medal in Cork City Hall at 6pm tomorrow evening by none other than Sonia O'Sullivan.
2days to go <:o) , it is now confirmed athletics legend Sonia O Sullivan is presenting the medal!!

"It's mind-blowing," Heffernan said. "It justifies my whole career."
