The Tour de France loses its leader after a ridiculous crash 1km from the finish line

What were you doing, Tony? German rider Tony Martin was nursing a 12-second overall lead over Chris Froome in the Tour de France as he cycled the final 900m in stage six today. But then, inexplicably, the yellow jersey-wearer careened to his right and brought down a plethora of pros in a farcical crash.   Martin then needed to be helped back onto his bike by three team-mates as he crossed the finish line holding his arm. It was later discovered that Martin has a broken collarbone and he was forced to withdraw from the race.
