Irish cyclist Sam Bennett is one of the most promising young riders in cycling and is therefore well aware of the inherent dangers that come with the sport. But the 24-year-old from Carrick-on-Suir got another harsh lesson about life in the peloton when he was at the centre of a horrific crash during  the final kilometre of Wednesday's Scheldeprijs one-day Classic in Belgium. To make matters worse Bennett was in contention for victory at the time of the accident. In the end he was happy to walk away (almost) in one piece.
