In the night's other fight which would have drawn Irish attention, fellow Dubliner Jack Marley fell to defeat in the men's heavyweight final.
Losing out to Italian Aziz Abbes Mouhiidine, the 20-year-old was unable to match the skill of the more experienced World silver medalist.
Marley did however also secure Olympic qualification having defeated Spain's Enmanuel Reyes Pla in Friday's semi-final.
Still in a buoyant mood despite the defeat, Marley reflected on the bout by saying;
"He's been around the block. He's world number two at the moment, European champion from last year, so today was a tough one. I thought I gave him a good go, I left a little imprint for the Games".
