Tyson Fury announces retirement from boxing

The legendary boxer made the announcement in an 18-second video posted on social media.

Following fighting Oleksandr Usyk last month, he has called time on a coveted career of glory.

Uploading a video online, he captioned the post: "Thanks, it's been a blast. Thanks to everyone who helped out along the way! Happy New Year Jesus is king now & forever."

Speaking in the viral clip, Fury stated:  "Hi everybody, I'm going to make this short and sweet, I'd like to announce my retirement from boxing. It's been a blast. I've loved every single minute of it."

Having reached the pinnacle of boxing after defeating Wladimir Klitschko back in November 2015, Fury leaves the sport aged 36.

He claimed the WBA (super), IBF and WBO world titles after defeating Klitschko in Germany.

Following on from this, he claimed the WBC world heavyweight title after his victory over Deontay Wilder in February 2020.
