Gallagher is never shy to offer his opinion on his beloved City and he is of the belief that goalkeeper Joe Hart was allowed to leave prematurely by manager Pep Guardiola.
"Pep made a mistake in getting rid of Joe Hart so soon. He shot himself in the foot," he continued.
"He should have kept him for another season, especially with Kompany's injury. Without them two, there was a lack of leadership in defence."
A regular attendee at the Etihad Stadium, Gallagher is not willing to be too patient with Guardiola, who completed the only trophyless season of his career during his first campaign in the Premier League.
And if the Spaniard fails to deliver the title in his sophomore season in England, Gallagher wants him gone.
"It is absolutely necessary to win the title next season, we cannot leave it to Chelsea again," he said.
"If we don't win anything then he won't be able to stay."
