VIDEO: Liverpool fans’ chant mocking Seamus Coleman injury is in absolutely awful taste

This was completely out of line.

Liverpool took on Everton in the Merseyside derby on Saturday and emerged victorious on a scoreline of 3-1. As with all derbies, it was a feisty affair with tackles from both sides leaving marks, although Ross Barkley in particular can feel very lucky to have remained on the field after a couple of nasty-looking tackles. Ashley Williams also gave Emre Can a going over which left the German international writhing on the ground in pain. As it's been well publicised over the past week or so, Seamus Coleman missed the game and indeed faces an extended spell on the sidelines after he suffered a brutal broken leg from Neil Taylor's tackle in Ireland's clash with Wales. Yesterday, Klopp won admirers around Ireland as he wrote a lovely message wishing Seamus Coleman all the best in his recovery:

"I would like to pass on my regards and best wishes to Seamus Coleman, who due to very unfortunate circumstances is not available to play today. "I do not know him personally, but as a football supporter I love his character, his positive approach to the game and his commitment to his club. "There is a lot to admire about this player and it is his personal qualities that will help him as he recovers from this setback and returns to the game."

But, a video has emerged online from a pub full of Liverpool fans which show them sickeningly mocking Seamus Coleman and the horrific injury he suffered. This is the lowest of the low, and there's absolutely no place for this as they chant:  'How's your leg Seamus Coleman? I hope you never play again'. https://twitter.com/jmosh95/status/848453783113912320 Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Les Lawson, the chairman of the Merseyside branch of the Official Liverpool Supporters Club, condemned the chant and said it is not representative of Liverpool's wider fan base. He said:

"Straight away after the injury everyone was hoping he makes a speedy recovery. It was a horrific tackle. "It can easily be one of your own players and you should never mock a player who gets hurt like that. "The majority of Liverpool fans wish him well and hope he is back to playing again soon. "I remember, despite what was claimed, that when Alan Smith broke his leg and was stretchered off at Anfield the whole ground stood and applauded him."

Nice sentiments but the video of so many football supporters mocking the misfortune of a rival player does not sit well at all.
