Debate rages over similarities between McGuinness and Brennan fights

There was a strong-held belief that he was staring at a 12-week suspension, given that was the ban handed to Ger Brennan for a similar incident against Galway.

However, as you can see below, there has been much debate online whether both actions warranted the same response from the CCCC.

The Category IVa (II) offence states that, “any type of physical interference with an opposing player or team official”, then the minimum penalty is a 12-week suspension.

Interestingly, referee Sean Hurson did not put the McGuinness incident in his notes, which made it harder for the CCCC to punish.

However, the Irish Times also pointed out that the CCCC could have taken matters into their own hands and used video evidence to suspend the manager.

While O'Connor does not fall over, as in the case of Galway's S&C coach, he is pushed my McGuinness.

As such, Dublin supporters are well within their rights to feel aggrieved.
