Carlos Condit hints that time has come to hang up gloves after becoming quick work for Demian Maia

112 seconds. One strike absorbed. One takedown.

And a choke. A picture-perfect rear naked choke. Demian Maia's victory over Carlos Condit in the main event of UFC on Fox 21 on Saturday night was not only a masterclass in grappling but perhaps more impressively, it was an exhibition of extraordinary efficiency. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt proved just why so many consider him the most dangerous grappler in MMA history by dragging the welterweight clash into his realm, sustaining no damage in the process, and drawing the tap before either man could even get a sweat on.

Maia made a terrific case for a title shot with the submission win, the 12th of his professional career, but across the Octagon, dejected and embarrassed, lay 'The Natural Born Killer'. And Condit, who had hinted about retiring prior to accepting a bout against Maia, sounded rather certain that he had fought his last fight in Saturday night's post-fight press conference. “I don’t know if I have any business fighting at this level anymore,” Condit said. “I’ve been at this for a really long time. "The pressure of kind of being one of the top guys for almost a decade, it’s been awesome to be involved in this sport as long as I have. I got to do what I love for a living for a very long time.
