WATCH: UFC vet Josh Koscheck’s long-awaited Bellator debut couldn’t possibly have gone any worse

Remember when Josh Koscheck signed for Bellator?

You'd be forgiven for forgetting that the former UFC title challenger signed with the promotion as his multi-fight deal was announced over a year-and-a-half ago. At the time, the discussion was about setting him up with a rematch against Paul Daley. The first time the pair threw down at UFC 113 in 2010, the high stakes fight ended in controversy. By losing the unanimous decision, Daley missed out on a title shot against Georges St-Pierre and a coaching spot on the Ultimate Fighter and after the final buzzer sounded, he lost his cool too. The British knockout artist walked alongside Daley back to his corner before hitting him with a cheap shot to the head before referee Dan Miragliotta stepped in to hold him back. The act marked the last thing he ever did in the UFC as Dana White announced his contract termination in the post-fight press conference. Since then, Daley has fought a remarkable 21 times and has improved his finish rate to 29 knockouts in 55 bouts. Meanwhile, Koscheck had a way worse run of form. After suffering the inevitable loss to GSP, he retired legendary fighter Matt Hughes with a vicious first-round knock out, scored a split decision win over Mike Pierce and then proceeded to lose his next six bouts in a row. The 39-year-old's promotional debut at Bellator 172 ended in particularly brutal fashion with underdog Mauricio Alonso putting him away with ease in the first round. He was awarded the TKO victory at the 4:42 mark of the opening frame.
