Mike Ross and Jack McGrath have some beer-making rivals in France

Rugby players and beer go together like rugby players and bizarre initiations.

During the Six Nations, we brought you the news that Irish front-rowers Mike Ross and Jack McGrath were working on their on home-brew beer.

While the suds have surely fermented to near-perfection by now, it would seem they have been beaten to the punch by a Top 14 side. La Rochelle will launch their 'Players' Beer' at a club organised barbecue this Friday. The get-together, involving players, coaches, club staff and fans will raise money for the club and its' outreach projects. If Mike and Jack want to get ahead of La Rochelle, they have 24 hours to organise their own unveiling. Then, and only then, can they concentrate on their upcoming Champions Cup semi-final with Toulon.
