Munster have signed a handy replacement for Paul O’Connell

One veteran for another.

Anthony Foley must have figured his side needed to keep up the "grit" quotient for next season as he has made an astute signing. The Munster boss has brought in 33-year-old Australian lock Mark Chisholm on a two-year deal. Chisholm was signed from Top 14 side Bayonne but he made his name in Super Rugby with ACT Brumbies. Between 2004 and 2011, he made 58 caps [and scored six tries] for the Wallabies. He made the move to France in 2011 and made 89 appearances for the French outfit, captaining the side for three seasons. Chisholm is a ready-made replacement for Toulon-bound Paul O'Connell and, handily enough for Munster, can play from the start of the season while many international stars are at the World Cup. Being able to be a part of the Munster family would be another highlight to add. 'I am looking forward to pulling on the red jersey and ripping in to adding to the prestigious history of the club.' Munster chief executive Garreth Fitzgerald adds, 'Known for his athleticism and physicality he will be a huge addition to the side with his abilities as a leader also proven. 'We look forward to the talent and wealth of experience Mark will bring to the province.'
