Paul O’Connell reveals the one upside of his World Cup injury

Paul O'Connell is quickly getting under is wife's feet.

Being away from your young family for two months cannot be easy. Tearing your hamstring off the bone must be worse. The former Ireland captain is convalescing from his brutal World Cup injury, sustained in the thrilling win over France, and staying in the country for the foreseeable future. He is expected to link up with Toulon in the New Year but, for now, is focused on getting back on both feet. Unaided. Speaking with TV3's Ireland AM this morning, O'Connell did reveal the one upside of his injury. "I can't cook food so Emily is looking after that. "We have two kids but I'm the one she's the most work for." O'Connell remarked, "She was glad to have me back [from the World Cup] but she'll be delighted to see me go again." Reflecting on the World Cup itself, O'Connell called it an opportunity missed. "We were in great shape and put in a good performance against France. We needed to kick on from that. We did the job and had to be better again. "Unfortunately, we played worse [against Argentina] rather than better." O'Connell's time with Ireland is now at an end but he still believes we can make big strides in the next World Cup. "Hopefully we can go on to the semis or final, or better."
