The Brazilian playmaker had his hands around the throat of Will Hughes and following a check with VAR, he was given a straight red card meaning that he will miss the next three games.
Speaking on the BBC Final Score programme James McFadden attempts to explain exactly what happened.
"The best way to describe it is that he throttles Will Hughes. He just grabs him, and I don't know if he's actually aggressive with it but you can't be putting your arms around his neck.
"I don't know if he's trying to push him out of the way but just grab his shirt or pull him out of the way, it's a crazy decision for Casemiro, not only in this game, but the future as well.
"Big games are coming up, he will be missing for violent conduct, be missing for a number of games, he's been unbelievable for Man United but he's no good to him on the stands."

Palace soon scored afterwards and came agonisingly close to getting that equaliser, but Erik ten Hag's side managed to hold on and seal all three points.
The goals came from a Bruno Fernandes penalty and the seemingly unstoppable Marcus Rashford got their second to continue his incredible form in front of the net.
