Typical!

Joe Brolly was the entertainer once again in his latest column for the Irish Independent.

This time, the outspoken pundit took a swipe at the Mayo footballers, claiming that they look down on their Connacht rivals Roscommon, and that they have no right to do so.

He used Mayo club champions Ballina Stephenites as an example, stating that they are 'mediocre' champions.

However, as an X user pointed out, this Ballina side defeated Knockmore in the semi-finals, the club with which Brolly was part of the management team.

He wrote: "Mayo’s footballers have nothing to be condescending about. They are a hotchpotch of decent players, with one potential superstar who is emigrating at the end of the season. Their ordinariness — save for Kobe McDonald — is exemplified by the standard of club football in the county.

"A mediocre Ballina Stephenites team (who couldn’t tie the laces of the great Stephenites team of the noughties) have won the last three championships, strolling through them with ease save for last year’s final which went to a replay."
