Chris Smalling’s summer is now, officially shit after holiday accident in Bali

Chris Smalling was having a decent summer, up until the Euros started.

The Manchester United defender is one of a host of English players enduring a heap of online abuse after their side were dumped out of Euro 2016. Smalling was part of the England defence that was breached by Russia, Wales and, famously, by Iceland. A second round exit followed and Smalling went on holiday sooner than he wanted. He was taken to a local hospital and medics were taking no chances, strapping up his head and placing him in a neck brace. Manchester United have been compelled to comment on Smalling's ill luck. They stated:

'We can clarify Chris Smalling has had food poisoning during his holiday which resulted in him fainting on Sunday. He was taken to the hospital and is now feeling fine. 'Smalling is currently on vacation in Bali following his time with England at Euro 2016 before reporting back for pre-season training later this month. Chris would like to thank everyone for their well wishes.'

Jellyfish or food poisoning, Smalling can chalk summer 2016 down to one dodgy experience.
